If you’ve become comfortable bending forward on high notes as part of your practice, this simple singing tip can also help with hitting high notes (and let you remain upright to avoid funny looks during a performance ;) ).

As you approach higher notes, you may begin to notice that things are beginning to tense up in your throat and it requires you to strain, force more air out, and maybe even sing louder.

An easy way to relieve this tension is to lower your jaw a bit on high notes. Try to feel the back of your chin relax and open up a bit. This not only relieves the tension, but also provides more room for air to pass and creates a larger space for the sound to reverberate within your head. As a rule of thumb, the less straining and struggle you feel as you go from low notes to high notes, the better.

It’s definitely a simple singing tip that can make a huge difference.
